A strategic segment is a globally persistent list of IDs. Strategic segments are simply segments that are created, typically by Campaign administrators, using the Create Seg process in a session flowchart, so that they are available for use globally, in all campaigns.
Campaign supports multiple strategic segments; the ID list that is created for each strategic segment and audience level is stored in the
Campaign system tables. You can associate an unlimited number of strategic segments with a campaign.
Strategic segments can optionally specify one or more IBM® Unica® data sources in which that strategic segment will be cached (that is, stored in the database so that uploading the strategic segment IDs is not required for each flowchart using the strategic segment). This can provide significant performance improvements in using strategic segments.
