Marketing Platform upgrade scenarios

Upgrade your installation of Marketing Platform after understanding the guidelines that are specific to your current version of Marketing Platform.

Follow the guidelines in the following table for upgrading Marketing Platform.

Upgrade path

7.x

A direct upgrade from version 7.x is not supported. Complete the following steps to upgrade to Marketing Platform version 9.1.0:

1.	Upgrade from version 7.x to version 8.6.0. To complete the upgrade to version 8.6.0, obtain the software and follow the instructions in the installation guide for that version.

2.	Complete the upgrade operation as described in one of the following topics.

Upgrading from version 8.x with automatic migration

Upgrading from version 8.6.x with manual migration

8.0.x or 8.1.x, integrated with an LDAP server

If you have mapped LDAP groups in the LDAP references for AM user creation property that are not mapped in the LDAP reference to AM group map property, you must complete the following steps in your current version of the Marketing Platform before proceeding with the upgrade:

1.	Identify the groups in the LDAP references for AM user creation property that are not mapped in the LDAP reference to AM group map property.

Map the LDAP groups that you have identified to an appropriate Marketing Platform group. After you complete an LDAP synchronization, you can map the users to more Marketing Platform groups to control their application access as required. For instructions, see the IBM® Marketing Platform Administrator's Guide.

Completing the previous steps ensures that all the required users are created in Marketing Platform.

8.0.x (not integrated with an LDAP server)

The Marketing Platform upgrade installer can automatically complete the data migration that is required for an upgrade. However, if your organization's policy does not allow automatic data migration, you must complete the procedure to upgrade manually.
