Metric Editor Metrics screen

The metrics screen contains details about the metrics defined in the specifications file, and allows you to create new ones or edit the existing ones.

The metrics screen contains the following sections:

List area: the top portion of the screen lists existing metrics and some data for each.

Buttons: the center of the screen contains buttons for performing various actions. Additionally, the bottom of the screen contains buttons used when users create or edit a metric.

Definition area: the bottom portion of the screen contains fields used when creating or editing a metric.

The metrics screen contains the following information:

List/Definition Area

Field	Description
#	Indicates the order of the metric in the XML file. Only displayed in the list area of the screen.
Internal Name	Name of the metric, used by the Metric Editor. Avoid spaces and special characters.
Display Name	Name of the metric when used in Unica Marketing Operations. Spaces are allowed, as well as some special characters. Keep this name to three 10-character words (or less), if possible. This is the display limit on metric rollup tables displayed within Unica Marketing Operations. For example, Mailed Client Savings is okay, while Savings Mailed to Prospective Clients will not display completely in rollup tables.
Description	Descriptive text for the metric, useful for determining the purpose.
Unit Type	Choose from the following: Number, Percent, Decimal, Money
Display Format	Determines how the metric appears on an object’s Tracking tab. Typically, the display format corresponds to the Unit Type: # - number or decimal #% - percent $# - money; type in whatever currency symbol you wish to display.
Precision	Enter the number of digits of precision. This field is used to control number of digits after decimal point for the metric value. It is used for both display and storage purposes. The “half-up” rounding rule is used, which works as follows: If the digit to the left of the discarded fraction is odd, it will round up; if it's even, then round down. For example: 9/2=4.5 since the number before 5 is 4 (even number), round down to 4. 7/2=3.5 since the number before 5 is 3 (odd number), round up to 4.

Buttons (center of the screen)

Field	Description
New	Click to create a new metric; the fields in the definition area of the screen are cleared.
Delete	Click to delete the selected metric. Use caution when using this button. It is designed only to remove a newly created metric that, for whatever reason, you feel is not needed.
Move up / Move down	Click to move the selected metric up or down in the specifications XML file.
